Intensive Russian Strikes Disrupt Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have faced increased strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Moscow's aerial assaults have caused electricity outages in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Several individuals were wounded while residents in the city's east were left without electricity and faced interruptions to drinking water, according to local authorities.

At the same time, a minor was killed in a different aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, according to local officials.

Moscow has escalated attacks on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while the country's government has requested "substantial measures" from international partners to increase pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not window dressing but decisive action - from the US, the EU and the major economies - in providing air defence systems and applying sanctions," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that 450 drones and several dozen projectiles struck the country's power systems, describing such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were laboring to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles hit energy infrastructure and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Several of the people injured in the attacks on the capital have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by local officials.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region experienced intense attacks overnight. A young boy was killed and multiple civilians were hurt.

The attacks come after nights of aerial attacks in the area, parts of which remain under the control of invading troops.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to detect.

Authorities told the media that Moscow was deliberately attempting to demolish the country's energy grid, with strikes already disrupting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and officials were anticipating more assaults.
